What Is An Instant Pot
An Instant Pot is a multifunctional pressure cooker that can cook a variety of foods from veggies to rice and beans and more.
Depending on the model, the Instant Pots have a variety of functions. Most can be used as a:
- Slow Cooker
- Pressure Cooker
- Rice Cooker
- Yogurt Maker
There are also different size options. The smallest one is 3 quarts which is perfect for 2-3 people. The largest, 8-quart, Instant Pot can feed a family of 6 or more.
Tips For Using The Instant Pot
Read the directions. The timer can be difficult to understand, so make sure you read all of the instructions before trying it.
Make sure the steam valve is in the correct position. If it is set to vent, your Instant Pot will not be able to build enough pressure to work correctly.
Learn the real cooking time. Although your food only takes a certain amount of time to cook, the Instant Pot does need to pressurize before the timer starts which usually takes about 10 minutes or so.
Buying An Instant Pot
First, Instant Pot is a brand name for a pressure cooker. We have an Instant Pot Duo 6-quart 7-in-1 Electric Pressure Cooker. It’s the perfect size for our family of 4 and has all of the settings we need and use. If you need something smaller, here’s a perfect 3-quart Instant Pot. If you need something bigger, here’s an 8-quart Instant Pot.
