Vegan Options on a Norwegian Cruise

In October, we took a cruise to Mexico on the Norwegian Bliss. We were excited to travel on our first cruise as vegans and were happy with our options and accommodations. Here’s what we ate: Breakfast We ate breakfast at the buffet each day. If you are changing time zones, make sure you are careful about the hours that breakfast is available. We decided to just keep the kids on the same 24-hour day as AZ, so some days they woke up at 7:30am and some days it was 9:30am depending on what time zone we were in. On the “9:30am” days, we had to get up right away to…

Top 4 Activities on a Cruise with Kids

Living on a ship for 8 days might seem daunting at first. Where do you go? What do you do? How do you entertain the children with water surrounding you 24/7? What if the kids lose their minds? The ship has a variety of activities constantly available. In October, we went on a Norwegian Cruise.  This was the kids’ second cruise but our first cruise with Norwegian. On the last cruise, Sienna was 2 years and Ethan was 4 years old. Since they were 5 years and 6 years this time, they were able to do a lot more and take better advantage of cruise activities. (We all still had…

8-day Norweigian Cruise with Kids (Part 2)

We went on a cruise to Mexico for the kids’ fall break this year. On the first 4 days of the cruise, we enjoyed our time on the ship. By day 5, we landed in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and were ready get off the ship and see what was nearby. Day 5 (Tuesday, October 9): Puerto Vallarta, Mexico We awoke to announcement that due to Hurricane Sergio, we were going to skip our destination to Mazatlan and travel straight to Cabo San Lucas after Puerto Vallarta. It was crazy to think that there was a hurricane nearby since the weather in Puerto Vallarta was sunny, warm, and gorgeous. We were…

8-day Norweigian Cruise with Kids (Part 1)

Cruising with the Kids Since the kids’ fall break was from October 8-October 13 this year, we decided to head out-of-town. We were pretty much open to anything. Due to last year’s Hurricane Irma and a cancelled cruise, we decided to stay on the west coast this year to try to avoid the bad weather. This didn’t work out exactly as expected, but I’ll get to that later. After doing a lot of research, we found a great deal on an 8-day cruise leaving on October 5 with Norwegian. You can compare cruise options and deals here. Previous to this, we’ve only cruised with Royal Caribbean, so we were excited…

Review of Norwegian Cruise to Mexico

Must Read if you are vegan or are traveling with kids! We recently went on our first cruise with Norwegian Cruises. Previously we had only cruised through Royal Caribbean and we had never cruised as vegans. (We were vegetarian when we last did a Royal Caribbean cruise.) We did an 8-day cruise to Mexico with stops in Ensenada, Mexico, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Overall, we were happy with the cruise. Here are my thoughts on specific parts of the cruise. Food It’s a cruise, so there was a ton of food. They feed you constantly. For breakfast, lunch, and dinner, there is a buffet option and…

    I’m back!

Goodness, I disappeared there for a bit. My dad was hospitalized for an extended time due to multiple medical issues. He is home and is recovering nicely at this point. Since then, we’ve actually been on a cruise which I will be posting about very soon. I have a lot to share about the experience and am so excited! Before that, I wanted to let you know about a great deal going on for holiday gifts. The Pogo Pass is discounted right now. Since we’ve moved to experience-type gifts, we purchased one last year for each family member for Christmas. It included entry to tons of sports games including basketball,…

Best Coffee Shop in Chandler, Arizona

I was recently invited to have coffee at Kind Bean in Chandler. When I walked in, I did not initially realize that this was a vegetarian restaurant. I was greeted by (as I found out later) the owner, Clay. He saw me come in and immediately asked if I had been here before and what I would like to order. He then let me know that the food is all planted-based which I was very excited about because the food looked amazing.   I immediately ordered a cinnamon roll and a coffee. Clay also let me know that Kind Bean had a loyalty program for future store credits. Clay gave…

    Vegan Teppanyaki and Sushi

Victor recently had the idea that we should go eat teppanyaki. We used to go regularly but haven’t been in the last 18 months since we’ve become vegan. We decided to go to Osaka for lunch. When we arrived, we sat at a table with another family. Note: We forgot about this part. The other family we ate with did it meat. If you are uncomfortable with meat being cooked in front of you, this is not the place for you. We were able to place our order and explained what we needed with vegan accommodations. This is how we ordered: Sushi: avocado roll, asparagus roll, and Pokémon roll. The…
